Bio

Matador Tribune Thurs, July 14, 1955 Robert W. Amick was born in Howard County, Missouri to H.E. & Ludie (Watts) Amick. After his father's death in 1893, he traveled with his family to Texas in 1903 and settled in Motley County in 1908. He resided in Whiteflat for several years before moving to Flomot, TX. Robert married Miss Letha Hines in Whiteflat, TX on July 30, 1911. They resided in from 1922-1954 until they moved to Plainview, TX to be near relatives after he had a heart attack. He had been sick for many years when he died at the age of 71 when en route from Plainview to Stanley Hospital in Matador. He was a member of the Methodist Church for a number of years. At the time of his death, he was affiliated with the Pentecostal Church. He is survived by his wife; his sons Louis Amick (Plainview), Roy Amick (Dayton, OH), and Howard Amick (Amarillo); his daughters Mrs. Leroy Nelson (Matador) and Mrs. Clyde Amonett (Lamesa); 12 grandchildren and his brother R.B. Amick (Winston, OR). Funeral services were held at the Flomot Baptist Church on Tues, July 12, 1955. The Rev. R.L. (Bob) Jameson, retired Matador Methodist minister, and Rev. J.E. Lee, Spur pastor, officiated. Burial was at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Flomot, TX under the direction of Eudy-Seale Funeral home in Matador.
