Herald Coaster, September 7, 2003: Hilda Haar Zwahr, age 76, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003 a her home in Needville after an extended illness. Hilda was born Aug. 30, 1927 in Kenney, to Willie and Leona Haar. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Fritz, Willie, and Irvin. She is survived by her husband, Alwin Zwahr; sons Harley Zwahr and wife Judy, of Needville; C.W. Zwahr and wife Joan, of Guy; Allen Zwahr and wife Kay, of Bellville; four grandchildren Nicole Zwahr; Rhonda Firkins and husband Mike; Abby Zwahr and Jason Zwahr; two great-grandchildren Haley and Kelsey Firkins; sister-in-law Hilda Haar; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2003 at the First English Lutheran Church in Damon with burial to follow in Needville Public Cemetery. Pastor Karen Davidson, A.I.M. will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday Sept. 7, 2003 at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel in Needville.
