Herald Coaster, March 2, 1998: Funeral services for Frank Joe Urbanek, Sr., 75, of Needville, will be held at 3 p.m. on Tues., March 3, at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Needville, with the Rev. Dan Walker officiating. Pallbearers are Dale Urbanek, Randy Heinecke, Albert Urbanek Jr., Bryntin Urbanek, Mike Chynoweth, Gerald Eda, John Bar Jr., and Tony Roehe. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Urbanek, Mike Roehe, and Royce Teykl, and American Legion Post 350 in Needville. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Mon., March 2, at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Needville, with a prayer service beginning at 6 p.m. Interment will be at the Needville Public Cemetery in Needville. Mr. Urbanek died on Feb. 28, 1998 at Polly Ryon Mem. Hospital in Richmond. He was born on Jan 15, 1923 to Joe and Caroline Urbanek. He was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Needville. He was also a member of American Legion Post #350 in Needville and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3903 in Rosenberg. Mr. Urbanek served in the United States Army from Dec. 1942 to Aug. 1945 in the Second Armored Division 536th Tank Company on the European Theater of Operations in World War II. He retired after 37-1/2 years with Jefferson Lake Sulphur/Occidental Chemical in plant maintenance as a power plant superintendent in June 1982. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Caroline Urbanek; and one brother, Albert Urbanek Sr.; and a brother-in-law, Jessie Heinecke. His survivors include his wife of 51-1/2 years, Mildred Teykl Urbanek; his three children: daughter, Sharon Brauner and her husband, Ernest Sr., of Needville; sons, Ronald Urbanek and his wife, Cecelia, of Needville, and Frank Urbanek (Joey) Jr. and his wife, Rosie, of Needville; grandchildren, Ernest Brauner Jr. and his wife, Mendie, Shelly Brauner, Chris Urbanek, Richard Krobot, Keith Urbanek and his wife, Raquel, Christine Urbanek; step-grandchildren, Shirley Cardenas and Victoria Cardenas; great-grandchild, Shelby Brauner; step-great-grandchild, Natalie Lazo; two sisters, Albina Roehe and her husband, Arthur, and Helen Heinecke; one brother, Otto Urbanek; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and loved ones.
