Texas Coaster, March 21, 1935: One of the most deplorable tragedies that has ever occurred in Fort Bend County was enacted at the farm home of Herbert Raesner near Needville Saturday evening when he killed his wife and then shot himself to death. It was revealed at the inquest, held by Justice of the Peace Charles T. Zich, that Mrs. Raesner and little son, about five or six yars old, had visited Needville during the afternoon, and on their return home Mr. and Mrs. Raesner had a quarrel. Raesner shot his wife in the face and through the heart with a shotgun. He then sent the little boy to nearby relatives to tell them to come to the Raesner home, and when they arrived they found that he had shot himself through the heart. Mr. Raesner was about 25 years of age and his wife was 23. The funeral occurred in Needville Monday.
