Herald Coaster, June 6, 1999: Funeral services for Robert Lee Nawara, 68, of Damon, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, at the First English Lutheran Church in Damon, with the Rev. Keith Massey officiating. Burial will follow in the Needville Public Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Leslie Dolezal, Aaron Kalnowski, Josh Robertson, Lonnie Nordt, and Michael Cromeans. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at Garmany and Carden Funeral Home in Needville, 3103 School Street. Mr. Nawara was born Nov. 12, 1930 in Fairchilds to the late Louis ad Mary Nawara. He went to be with his Lord June 4, 1999. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He worked as a farmer, painter, and a roustabout for P.L.D. Drilling Co. and for Gulf States Tube, from which he retired. He was an active member of the First English Lutheran Church of Damon. He married Lillian Matilda Jan. 7, 1951. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian Matilda, and sister-in-law, Clara Dolezal, and brother-in-law, Frank Dolezal. He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Priddy and her husband, Steve; two sons, Kenneth Nawara and William Nawara and his wife, Carla; and a sister, Marie Robertson, all of Needville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, LaVerne Cromeans and Donald Cromeans of Orchard; grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Kathleen, and Britney Nawara, Jake and Steve Priddy, LeAnne Dry; and two-great-grandchildren, Chelsey and Chase Dry of Humble. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor, and friend, who loved to spend time with his family and friends. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and just visiting. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Memorial gifts may be made in his name to the First English Lutheran Church of Damon.
