Bio

Edward J. Zeleny, 77, Schuyler, died at Memorial Hospital Schuyler. He had been hospitalized 11 days. The Rev. Victor Herman officiated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Bruno. He was born May 10, 1896, at Bruno, the son of Charles and Frances Pecka Zeleny, and attended school in Bruno. He was married to Jennie Voboril June 28, 1921 at Abie. Mr. Zeleny was a resident of Schuyler for many years. He was a carpenter. Survivors include his wife; son, Edward Jr. of Morse Bluff; three daughters, Mildred (Alan) Bergland of David City, Georgia (William) Haskovec of Schuyler and Mamie (Louis) Plasek of Churubusco, NY.; 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Louis of Fremont, Jerry of Sacramento, CA., William of Eugene, OR., and Ted of Schuyler; four sisters, Hilda (Albert) Bernt of Columbus, Hattie (William) Nelson of Concord, CA., Rose ( William) Vanek of Schuyler, and Eva Knappanberger of Eugene, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
