Bio

Fern Lois Benavides, 87, passed away in her sleep, Saturday morning, March 17, 2012, at Meadowbrook Assisted Living Center in Ontario, Ore. Fern was born Sept. 30, 1924, to Jasper and Gladys Wright in North Platte, Neb. On Jan. 10, 1965, she was united in marriage to Paulo Benavides. She enjoyed spending time at home with her family telling hilarious stories, tending her garden and watching birds. Fern was an excellent homemaker and in her younger years she waitressed and worked at Ore-Ida. She had a feisty personality and a great sense of humor. Fern was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Talk to any of her grandchildren, they all have the best memories and will tell you Grandma was the best cook ever. Fern always had open arms for all her children and grandchildren; the safest place was Grandma Fern's arms. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, March 13, 2012; her parents; her daughters, Charlene Lambert and baby girl Susan; her sons, Dennis Davis and Thomas Davis; her brothers, Herbert Wright and Warren Sharp; and her sisters, Virginia Cuthbert and Raedene Wright. She is survived by her daughters, Dolores Patterson and Cindy Davis; her grandchildren, their children and many other relatives and friends. The family extends our heartfelt thanks to all of the caregivers at Meadowbrook and Legacy Hospice. Grandma and Grandpa appreciated everything that you did for them. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery 1155 South Park Boulevard, Ontario, Ore, Thursday, March 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. Family and friends are welcome.
