Van Alstyne, Texas -- Funeral services for Martin Brown, age 79, of Van Alstyne will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel, Van Alstyne, under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home. Brother Jason Norton and Brother Duane Peters will officiate; burial will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Martin passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Medical Center of McKinney. Martin was born August 4, 1932 in Westminister, Texas, the son of James Dennis Brown and Dora Cecil Simpson Brown. He married Joy Murl October 10, 1950 in Cartwright, Oklahoma; she passed away in 2003. Martin was a member of the Church of Christ and was a retired carpenter. He is survived by his sons and their wives Rickey and Valerie Brown of Van Alstyne, Ronnie and Nadine Brown of Celina, daughter and her husband Tammie and Steve Andersen of Van Alstyne, 2 Brothers, Curtis and Bill Brown of Westminister, 3 Sisters, Sue Umphress of Van Alstyne, Melba Turner Of Van Alstyne, Rusty Anderson of Westminister, 9 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday night for 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home.
