Curtis Monroe (Slim) Brown passed away April 12, 2023, at Medical City in McKinney, Texas. Curtis Monroe (Slim) Brown was born on December 4, 1929, in Westminster, Texas. He was the son of James D.Brown, Sr. And Dora Cecil Simpson. He attended Westminster Schools and married Rada Lee McTee on December 15,1950. They had two children, Judy Brown and Jeffrey Brown. Slim worked as a carpenter, farmer, and rancher. He loved the outdoors and loved being on his John Deere tractor and taking care of his cattle. In his spare time, he loved watching the Rangers, Cowboys and Mavericks on TV. At a Texas Ranger game he caught a foul ball and received a standing ovation from the crowd. In his own right as a young man, he was a great baseball player. His greatest love was Rada the love of his life, his children, and granddaughters Amber and Amanda. He is survived by his children Judy Conaway and husband Randy Conaway of Westminster, Texas, Jeffrey Brown and wife Julie Brown of Allen, Texas, Granddaughters Amber Strickland Carney of Westminster and Amanda Brown of San Diego, California. Sisters Patsy (Rusty)Anderson of Westminster, Texas, Melba (Jitter)Turner of Van Alstyne, Texas, Carol (Sue)Umphress of Van Alstyne, Texas and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Rada Lee Brown, his parents James D. Brown, Sr and Dora Cecil Brown, Siblings James D. (Shirley) Brown, Jr., Martin (Wimp)Brown, Mary Jo (Peg)Geer, Willie Burl (Bill)Brown, Mozelle (Sack)Kee and Hershel Lee Brown. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 1:00PM till 2:00PM at Scoggins Funeral Home, following the visitation we will be going in funeral procession to Elm Grove Cemetery, for graveside services that will began at 2:15PM. Rev. Mark Fletcher will officiate.
