Herald Coaster, September 16, 2002: Funeral services for Lucille Zurek, 83, of Wallis were held Monday, Sept. 16, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Richard Johnston S.C.J. celebrating the funeral mass and Rite of Committal. Serving as pallbearers were Jeffery Szymanski, Jonathon Szymanski, Greg Hinze, Joe Hinze, George Fogle and Raymond Marek. Honorary pallbearers were Carlton Fogle, Dawson Fogle and Willard Szymanski. Lectors for the mass were Diedre Hinze and Jessica Fogle. The offertory gifts were presented by Jessica Fogle, Lucy Fogle, Elizabeth Lucille Szymanski, Reagan Hinze and Amy Fogle. The Eucharistic Minister was Virginia Verm. Burial was in the Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Wallis. Lucille Zurek was born in Wallis to parents John V. Klecka and Alma Pauline Polasek Klecka. She was reared in the Wallis area and graduated from Guardian Angel High School. On Oct. 24, 1939, she married Julius Zurek in Wallis. Mrs. Zurek was a homemaker all her life, devoting her time and talent to her children, grandchildren and, later in life, her great grandchildren. She was also a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, the K.J.Z.T., Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society. She passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 14, 2002 in Bellville. She is survived by her daughters, Cornelia Hinze and her husband, Joe, of Sealy and Jeraldine Szymanski of Wallis (a third grade teacher at Deaf Smith Elementary in Rosenberg); her grandchildren, Amy Fogle and her husband, George, Greg Hinze and his wife, Diedre, Jeffery Szymanski and his wife, Sarah and Jonathon Szymanski; great-grandchildren, Jessica Fogle, Carlton Fogle, Dawson Fogle, Lucy Fogle, Reagan Hinze, Elizabeth Lucille Szymanski and Willard Szymanski. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alma Klecka and her husband, Julius Zurek. Funeral services were under the direction of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home in Wallis, (979) 478-6311.
