Funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor M. Spenner age 92 of Beemer, NE will be on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, NE with interment will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Minnick Funeral Home in Beemer, NE is in charge of arrangements. Eleanor passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer, NE. Eleanor Marie Spenner was born November 12, 1919 on a farm north of Dodge, NE to Anton and Mary (Rolf) Stieren. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. Eleanor attended Cuming Co. Rural School District #41. She was a care taker in homes of mothers of newborn babies and the sick. On September 7, 1938, she was united in marriage to Henry J. Spenner at St. Henry's Catholic Church north of Howells, NE. The couple farmed north of Beemer until August of 1968, when they moved into Beemer in a new home they built. Eleanor kept busy with church work and cleaning the parsonage for 22 years. She also taught 5th Grade religion class for over 42 years and received her level two certificate for advance teaching at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, NE. She worked as a care staff member at Colonial Haven Nursing Home for 15 years after which she was a volunteer in several areas of the home. She was a member of Holy Cross Council of Catholic Women, was Chairman of the church community committee, and was on the vocations and courtesy committees. In 1994, she was appointed to be liturgist and sacristan for religious education. She was a member of the Church Choir, a Eucharistic minister since 1985 and trained the children to be mass servers. In May and June of 2007 she was honored with two Archdiocese of Omaha Rural Awards, one from Ministry of Stewardship and the other from the Family Life Office, the aging Ministry Award. Jerome Spenner of Omaha, NE Eugene (Marilyn) Spenner of Dawson Creek, British Columbia and family Thomas (Karen) Spenner and family Taylor, Riley and Max Spenner Gina (Clint) Odden and family Dalton (Chantel) Odden, Brieann Odden, Slade Odden, Dallas Odden & Cole Odden, Greg (Lorna) Spenner and family Kurt and Chyanne, Philip (Nicole) Spenner and family Simon and Vanessa Rebecca (Lorne) LaRochelle and family Max and Melissa, Franny (Matthew) Larochelle and family Trent, Rachel and Tyler, Theresa (Jason) Eheler and family Maiya, Ayda, Hannah and Nasira, Matthew (Lindsay) Spenner and family Cadence, Keaton, Finlay and Pike, Daniel (Karen) Spenner of Beemer, NE and family Aaron Spenner, Erica Spenner, Andrea (Dan) Witte and family Jaden, Keegan and Charley Mae, Mary (Jan) Schuetze of West Point, NE and family Jeff and Shay Lynn Schuetze James Schuetze and son James Dean Sister- Beatrice Seeman of West Point, NE Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Henry, son-Rev. Wilfred, siblings-Laura Guenther, Minnie Kuehler, Jerhard Stieren, Hilbert Stieren, and Edward Stieren.
