Bio

Florine Marie Moeller Hoelscher, 93, born on Sept. 2, 1918, in Wall, Texas, to Richard and Katie (Lehr) Moeller, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at her home surrounded by her children. Florine was the youngest of three children, brother Melvin Moeller and sister Delta Bubenik, who have also preceded her in death. She met her love, Herbert Hoelscher, when she was 16, they were married for 56 years when he passed away on Jan. 6, 1990. Together they raised three daughters and four sons. Florine worked several years in the Fairview School lunch room. She had a passion for singing, playing her guitar and making music with her "musician friends" on Sunday afternoons. Whenever she heard the good news of another grandbaby was on the way, she began to piece together another homemade baby blanket. She always had a playhouse in the backyard and a baby bed in the back room for her grandchildren, so all would be at home and comfortable. In later years she always had a pot of coffee every morning for her children dropping by, the small jokes and laughter made her day, then off to quilting or dominos, always keeping her on her toes after Dad passed away. She was a leader in the 4-H Club, teaching young girls how to cook and sew. She prided herself in raising chickens and selling her eggs. Daddy never told her how much the feed cost. She and Dad loved to go fishing at their lot at Lake Amistad along with their family. In later years they enjoyed their bus trips with other couples. Mom's heritage will live on as she quilted keepsake quilts for her family as she gifted many friends with them. She later acquired the nickname "Muff" that was short for Mother Florine. By all accounts, she was a lady "you just HAVE to love." Heaven just got another angel! She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church as well as a Catholic Daughter of America. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hoelscher; and grandsons Allen Wayne Hoelscher and Randal Wade Hoelscher. She is survived by four sons, Clifford Hoelscher and wife Joyce of St. Lawrence, Dwane Hoelscher and wife Janell of San Angelo, Jerry Hoelscher and wife Arlene of St. Lawrence and Steven Hoelscher and wife Jennifer of San Angelo; three daughters, Marjorie Hoelscher and husband Frankie of San Angelo, Dorothy Kvapil and husband Howard of San Angelo and Sandra Couey and husband Steve of Junction; granddaughters Mary Kay Ripple and husband James, Debbie Halfmann and husband Rick, Trudy Glass and husband Steve, Rose Pelzel and husband Pat, Kari Beeles and husband Shawn, Kristi Bayless and husband Matt, Terri Walling and husband Jamie, Janice Matschek and husband Greg, Vicki Beard, Kimberly Jost and husband Darrin, Stephanie Wilson and husband Cody, Jamie Glass and husband Shawn and Jill Krenek and husband Dustin; and grandsons Dennis Hoelscher and wife Kathy, Brantley Hoelscher and wife Robbi, Rodney Hoelscher and wife Kerri, Greg Hoelscher and wife Debra, Keith Hoelscher and wife Jennifer and Kevin Hoelscher and fiance Lindy. Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Charles Greenwell and Father Chinna Pagidela officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
