Bio
Jewel was born April 25, 1914, in Pitkin, Vernon, Louisiana, to Marion (Boy) and Martha Ann James. She died March 2, 2003, in West Orange, Texas. The funeral will be at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in West Orange, with burial following at King Cemetery in Hartburg, Texas. She was married for 53 years to Edgar A. Bishop, who died in 1990. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Lela Strother, Emma Richardson, Beulah Hicks, and Monroe and Herman James. Survivors include siblings, Oma White of DeRidder, La., Lois Woods of Tomball, TX, Ann Brinkman of Kirbyville, TX, and Carl James of Tomball, TX; three sons, Murl (LaQuinta) Bishop of Orange, Max (Leslie) Bishop of San Antonio, and Richard (Mary) Bishop of Gatesville; grandchildren, Kellie Bishop (John) Riley, Jason (Rosemary) Bishop, Karen Bishop (Bruce) Hammond, Dr. Leslie M. Bishop, Tony Lanagan, Todd Bishop, Barry (Karen) Bishop, and Ray Bishop; great-grandchildren, Johnathan Kellis, Mary Ann Riley, Patrick Riley, Marisa Bishop, Ansley Hammond, Bradley Hammond, and Zackery Hammond.
