SA US Navy Charles Walter Murrell "Charlie", 73, passed away Tuesday November 18, 2008 at the Mitchell Care Center. Charlie was born October 30, 1935 in Higginsville, Missouri. to Walter Dewey and Adah Pearl (Short) Murrell. He served in the United States Navy from February 1955-1959. Charlie moved to Mitchell a few years later and on November 15, 1961 he married Betty Schanaman and four children were born to this union. Charlie enjoyed working at a variety of different jobs over the years - working in the Mitchell Beanery, driving beet, potato and milk trucks, painted homes, worked at the Sugar Factory in Mitchell, and began his own C & B Plumbing and Heating business which he operated throughout most of his adult life. He also worked for several years at the American Legion in Mitchell until his retirement. Charlie enjoyed fishing and camping and was well known for singing karaoke at the local fairs. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Stanley, brothers Delmer and Bob, a sister Rosie. Published online by Jolliffe Funeral Home
