Bio

Justin J. Vitek, 55, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack while at work near New Orleans, Louisiana, at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 23. Funeral services were held from the chapel of the Knesek and Sons Funeral Home, followed by Mass at the Guardian Angel Church at Wallis at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 26. Interment was made in Guardian Angel Cemetery, the Rev. Thomas Hanus officiating. Pallbearers were his brothers, A.P., Cyril J., Libert Bennie, Frank and Dominic Vitek, Charles W. Klecka and Lawrence Niver. Rosary recital was held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. by the parish with K of C and KJT following. Mr. Vitek was born in Fayette County May 22, 1917, was reared in the Fayetteville community and attended school there. On November 7, 1938 he was married in Wallis to Miss Monica Polasek. For more than 30 years he was a pumper on a Gulf Oil Co. off shore platform. Mr. Vitek belonged to the Guardian Angel Church at Wallis, the KJT, and Knights of Columbus. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Justin Vitek of Wallis; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kubricht of Navasota, Mrs. Lucille Hodge of Wallis and Mrs. Loyce Maxwell of Clute; one son, Edward Vitek of Wallis; three sisters, Mrs. Charles W. KIecka of Houston, Mrs. L.F. Agnes Cook of Africa and Miss Mildred Vitek of Abilene; six brothers, A.P. Vitek of Fayetteville, Cyril J. of Lake Jackson, Libert of Brazoria, Bennie of Bloomington, Frank of Fayetteville and Dominic of Friendswood; six grandchildren. The Viteks maintained their home in Wallis although he worked in other areas over the years. He was currently in temporary residence on a house boat offshore near New Orleans.
