Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Ruschy, 78, of Sherburn was held 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn with Father Jim Von Tobel S.J. Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota. Betty was called to her eternal rest on Saturday morning, February 11, 2012 at Goldfinch Estates-Roxanne House in Fairmont, Minnesota. Visitation was held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn and one hour prior to the services at St. Luke’s Catholic Church Parish Center on Wednesday. Betty Joy Morrow was born September 10, 1933 to Lloyd and LaVonne (Thompson) Morrow at Fairmont MN. She attended school in Fairmont, graduating in 1952. Betty worked from 1952 to 1955 as a receptionist for Drs Thayer, Wandke and Kramer in Fairmont. Betty was united in marriage to George Ruschy on September 3, 1955 at St John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. After their marriage they farmed in Fox Lake Township until moving to their present farm in Jay Township in 1957, which they later bought from E.E. Johnson. They farmed until 1991, remaining on the farm after retiring. In 1999 they moved into the beautiful house in Sherburn built by their son Brian. After George’s death in 2004 Betty remained in Sherburn until 2009 when she moved to Gold Finch Estates Independent Living in Fairmont. In September 2011 Betty moved to Roxanne House due to declining health. Betty was a member of St Luke’s Catholic Church and Charity Guild in Sherburn. Betty and George spent many winters enjoying the sun, warm weather and friends at WesLaco Texas. After George’s death in 2004, Betty continued her Texas travels. Summers were spent fishing on Fox Lake and Rush Lake. While on the farm Betty kept busy with her large flower and vegetable gardens. Betty enjoyed visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandsons. She loved going out to eat with family and friends. Those left to honor Betty’s memory include her sons – David Ruschy and his wife Cindy of Fridley MN, Dale Ruschy and his wife Deborah of Fairmont, Brian Ruschy and his wife Yonna of Sherburn. Daughter Dianne Swanson and her husband Bill of Alpha. Six grandchildren – Benjamin Swanson, Hawarden Iowa, Leah Swanson & Matt McCrea of Spencer Iowa, John Ruschy of Fridley MN, Dalton Ruschy of Minneapolis MN, Darien Ruschy of Fairmont MN and Madison Ruschy of Sherburn MN. Great-grandsons Gabriel and Riley McCrea of Spencer Iowa. Brother Duane Morrow of Wrightwood California. Sister-in-law Joelene Morrow of Fresno California, Sister-in-law Alice Grev and her husband Clint of Crystal MN, Brother-in-law Carl Ruschy and his wife Lavonne of Estherville Iowa, brother-in-law Bill Ruschy and his wife Jean of Mesa Arizona, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, father and mother-in-law John and Magdalene Ruschy, brother Melvyn Morrow, sister-in-law Jane Morrow and other relatives.
