From The Colfax County Call, Thursday, March 13, 1947, page 3, transcribed by Linda Berney: Clarkson - Mrs. Frances Urban Funeral services were held Saturday March 1st for Mrs. Frances Urban, who passed away Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Novotny, son-in-law and daughter with whom she made her home for the past five years. She had been in failing health, being 82 years, 3 months, 6 days old. Services were conducted from the Novotny home Saturday morning then at the S.S. Cyril and Methadius Catholic church at 10 o'clock. Rev. Clement Kubesh officiated. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased - Messrs. Frank, Steve and Lumir Novotny, Steven, George and Raymond Urban. Mrs. Urban, whose maiden name was Frantiska Stodola, was born Nov. 20, 1864 in Policka, Kraj Chrudim, Czechoslovakia. She came to American with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stodola in 1883 settling on a farm near Schuyler. Nov. 22, 1884 she married Vincent Urban. They lived on a farm seven miles south of Clarkson until 1918 when they moved to town. Her husband passed away Sept. 29, 1927; her daughter Anna, Mrs. Adolf Cinfl, died July 29, 1916. On sister and two brothers preceded her in death. She leaves one daughter, Frances, Mrs. Frank S. Novotny, 2 sons, Vincent and Joseph, Clarkson, 1 sister, Mrs. Josephine Groulik, Schuyler, 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.
