From The Colfax County Press, Thursday, July 6, 1916, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Death of Mrs. Adolph Cinfel [sic] - The news of the death of Anna Cinfel, the loving wife of Adolph Cinfel, was sadly received by her many friends at this place. Death entered the family home on Sunday morning when the soul of this faithful and loving woman passed to the unknown, after an illness covering a period of several years. Anna Urban Cinfel was born in Wilson precinct, this county, twenty-six years ago. She grew to womanhood in this community and was married to Adolph Cinfel and together for a number of years they resided on their farm in Madison county. Three children blessed their union, and now deeply mourn with their father the departure of their loving mother. for some years the deceased was afflicted with sarcoma (growing tumor). The best of medical aid was summoned, but relief was in vain. Finally she submitted to a number of operations, but her ailments became more aggravated and yielded less to treatment and she was forced to surrender after a most heroic struggle to live. The deceased was a woman of splendid qualities and patiently bore her cross. The funeral was held on Wednesday, July 5th, with services in the morning at the Alois Faitys home, conducted by Rev. Zak. The remains were conveyed to the Catholic church at Clarkson, where the Reverend Zak officiated. The services were very largely attended by her many friends and relatives who came to pay a last tribute. Burial took place a the Bohemian Catholic cemetery west of town. Besides the heart-broken husband and children, the deceased is survived by her parents, brothers, sisters and a large host of friends. To those in bereavement is extended our heart-felt sympathy.
