Amalie Lucy "Mollie" Dornak was born on 28 November 1898 in Nada, Colorado County, Texas. She was the third of four children of Joseph Dornak and Mariana Poncik Labay Dornak. Her full siblings were Daniel L. Dornak and Agnes Catherine Dornak. Another sister, Anna Mathildis Dornak, died as an infant. Mollie's mother, Mariana, had 7 children from her first marriage to Michael Labay, who died in December 1892. Mollie's Labay half-siblings were: Rosalie, Michael John, Maria Josefa, Antonin, Caroline, Jerome George, and Fred D. Labay. Mollie's father, Joseph Dornak, had 2 children from his first marriage to Anna Waligura, who died in December 1892. Mollie's Dornak half-siblings were: Velma Anna and Johnny Dornak. Mollie married John Emil Sliva Sr. on 24 Oct 1917 in Wharton County, Texas. They were the parents of 5 children: John Frank born and died in 1918, Marcella Amalia, Lucy Marie, John Emil Jr., and Theresa Ann Sliva. Amalie Dornak Sliva died from cancer on 20 May 1966 in El Campo, Wharton County, Texas. She was 67 years of age. ~ by Linda Wiesner, great-niece
