Benjamin Pettiet of Guthrie passed away Jan 20, 2012 in Paducah at the age of 84 years. Family visitation will be from 5 pm till 8 pm, Saturday, Jan 21st at Zapata Funeral Home of Paducah. Graveside service will be at 4:00 pm, Sunday at the Rochester Cemetery in Rochester TX. Bennie was born Aug 11, 1927 in Rochester, TX to Benjamin, Sr and Willie Marie Pettiet. after his early schooling he married the love of his life Juanita Odom in 1945. Bennie's life revolved around his home and family and he cared for them by farming and doing carpentry work. He had a great sense of humor. He was a fun loving gentelman that believed in keeping folks laughing. He was also very out spoken would express his opinion and speak his mind when necessary. He also took a great deal of pride in being a full fledged "yellow dog" democrat. Bennie was good man and a hard working man. His outlook on life was "Do the best you can do and thats all you can do." In his relaxation time he loved to play the guitar, sing and stomp that foot. He loved the old fashioned country music and was an avid Nascar fan. Bennie is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Elaine Pettiet. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Juanita Pettiet 3 sons - Randy, Dewayne & Rodger Pettiet 2 brothers - Joe and Bob Pettiet 2 sisters - Venita Blair and Linda Ranken 9 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren 4 great great grandchildren ∼ Bennie Pettiet, Jr., 84, a long time King County resident passed away Friday, Jan 20, 2012 in Paducah. Bennie was born August 11, 1927 in Rochester, Texas to Benjamin, Sr. and Willie Marie Pettiet. After his early schooling he married the love of his life, Juanita Odom in 1945. In 1963 Bennie and Juanita moved to Guthrie, Texas. Bennie's life revolved around his home and family. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandad and great-grandad. He worked hard as a farmer and carpenter to provide for his family. He was a fun loving gentleman with a great sense of humor. He believed in keeping them laughing. He was also very outspoken and would express his opinion and speak his mind when necessary. Bennie took a great deal of pride in being a full fledged "yellow dog democrat." His outlook on life was to "Do the best you can do and that's all you can do." He was a member of the Baptist Church and the King County Lions Club. In his relaxation time he loved playing the guitar, singing and stompin' that foot. The good old fashioned country music was his favorite. When he wasn't laughing, playing, singing and stompin' he was an avid NASCAR fan. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Elaine Pettiet. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Juanita Petteit; three sons, Randy, Dewayne and Rodger Pettiet; two brothers, Joe and Bob Pettiet; two sisters, Venita Blair and Linda Rankin; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
