Obituary - Creighton News - 11 June 1942 Funeral rights were held for Raymond F. Siercks on Tuesday afternoon from the home in Creighton at 1:30, to the Christ Lutheran church at Bazile Mills at 2:00 pm. The pastor, Rev. J. W. Petersen officiated. A large assemblage of friends gathered to pay a last tribute to the deceased. Two hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me", were sung by Irene Schuett, Lula Boggs, LeVeve Andersen, Edna Suhr and Sarah Kumm, Mrs. Henry Beckman was their accompanist. Casket carriers were Fred Diedrichsen, Pete Diedrichsen, Harry Diedrichsen, William Blunck, Herman Dietz, Ernest Wulff. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery at Creighton. Mr. Siercks' health had been failing for some time. On December 8, 1941, he was taken to a hospital in Norfolk. A few days later he submitted to an operation and three weeks later had another operation. He apparently was getting along very well. His friends rejoiced to see him up and around. However, early this spring he had a setback. His condition becoming serious as time went on. For the last weeks he was bedfast. Early Saturday morning, June 6, he departed from this life. Raymond Frederick Siercks was born at Retelsbuettel, Schlewieg, Holstein, on July 8, 1882. He had reached the age of 59 years, 10 months and 23 days. When 9 years of age he came to this country with his parents, making their home at Hooper, Nebraska. On October 29, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Lizzy Moeller of Creighton. The marriage was performed at Wausa, where the family lived on the farm for many years. Their marriage was blessed with three children, two girls and one boy. The boy, Walter, departed this life in 1928. In 1928 the family left the farm and moved to Creighton, living in town. From 1928 to 1934 the family again moved back to a farm at Wausa, where they lived until last February, when they returned to Creighton. Mr. Siercks leaves to mourn, his departure, his wife, two daughters, Frieda, now Mrs. Henry Mueller, Creighton; Mabel, now Mrs. Ralph Schneckloth, Wausa; five sisters, Mrs. Herman Peters, Bloomfield; Mrs. Gus Wagner, Central City, Nebr.; Mrs. Ed Franke, Hooper; Mrs. Henry Winkelmann, Hooper; Mrs. Gottlieb Fritz, Lebanon, Oregon; two brothers, Julius and Otto, both of Fremont; four grandchildren and many friends.
