Obituary - 27 December 1962 - Central City Republican-Nonpareil Mrs. Johanna Wagner, 87, long time Merrick county resident, died Tuesday, December 25, at the local hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Wagner was born November 1, 1875, in Hamburg, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sierks. She came to America in 1887 with her parents, brother and a sister. She was married to August J. Wagner May 24, 1894 in Fremont and the couple resided there for 13 years before going to Colorado where they lived four years. They then came to Merrick county where she has lived since. Mrs. Wagner is survived by four sons: Clause, Heber and Roy, all of Central City and Glen of Bellingham, Wash; five daughters Mrs. Silda (missing), Grand Island; Mrs. Mildred McIntosh, North Platte; Mrs. Clara Summerville, Omaha; Mrs. Erma White, Melrose, Minn; and Mrs. Francis Hanna, Emmett, Ida.; one sister, Mary Winkleman, Hooper; 30 grandchildren and 80 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband July 6, 1956; four daughters and one son. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday, December 27) at 2 p.m. in the Solt Chapel with the Rev. Walter Samuelson and Rev. Robert Ditterline officiating. Burial will be in the Central City cemetery.
