Bio

Tipton Conservative Aug. 1969 Funeral services for Vance Oral Dallege, 78, were held Aug. 11 at the Sheets and Sons funeral home with the Rev. J. Van Mantgem officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Kallenberger, Lester Chapman, Elmer Harmel, Milo Ahrens, Harold Conley, Fedale McIntosh. Mrs. Arnold Swan was organist and Dr. C.D. Christianson, vocalist. Mrs. William Ziba and Mrs. Fedale McIntosh were in charge of flowers. Mr. Dallege died unexpectedly at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Aug. 8. The son of August H. and Margaret A. Fulwider Dallege, he was born March 9, 1891 near Tipton. He was educated in the rural Cedar county schools. He married Nellie Mae Buckman Feb. 4, 1914 at Wilton Junction. He retired from farming in the South Bethel area in 1957 and had been a resident of Tipton. He was a member of the South Bethel church. Survivors include his wife; 4 sons, Leo Charles, Sante Fe, N. Mex.; Floyd, Atalissa; Harley LaVern and Darrell Dwayne, both of Tipton; 3 daughters, Mrs. Warren (Edna) Ahrens; Mrs. Eugene (Clara) Eves and Mrs. Wayne (Frances) Ahrens, all of Tipton; 19 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and a son in infancy.
