Myrtle May House, daughter of August and Amanda Fulwider Dallege, was born in Cedar County, Iowa, Nov. 7, 1882, and passed away at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin the morning of June 26, 1961, after a brief illness. As a young girl she attended schools in Cedar County, near Tipton, Iowa, and on Dec. 14, 1900, she was united in marriage with John W. House at Muscatine, Iowa. They moved to Riceville, Iowa, in 1910 and in 1930, came to Minnesota. The past 19 years, they lived in the Austin area and at the time of her passing, they lived at 1611 8th Ave. N.W. The Houses celebrated their 60th anniversary last December. Mrs. House was interested in needlework and was very active in her garden in which she spent much time with her flowers. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 28, at 2 p.m. at the Jordan Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Gordon Wendland officiating. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. House is survived by her husband, John W.; two daughters, Mrs. Amanda McCloud, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Walter (Isabel) Bungum, Austin; a son, Orville, of Chicago; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Stanbro, Mrs. Elsie Hain; a brother, Vance Dallege. Mrs. House was preceded in death by two grandsons, Lt. Merwin Kay McCloud, and Lt. Mason Jay McCloud, while serving in the Air Force during World War II. Friends and relatives from out-of-town attending the services were from Minneapolis, Chicago, Tipton, Wilton, Muscatine, Waterloo, Riceville, Osage, Iowa, Leroy, Springvalley.
