Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Saturday, 7 November 1914, page 3 Death of James Devore J. W. Devore, of St. Libory, who passed away Thursday evening of pneumonia, lived to be 60 years, 11 months, and 15 days old. He was born in Marion county, Ia., and lived in that state until 1876, when he moved to Hamilton county, Neb. Later he left this locality for Cheyenne county and then returned to Howard county. Mr. Devore followed farming and cattle raising. In August of the year 1874, Mr. Devore was united in marriage to Martha Ann Haines, at Indianola, Ia. Eleven children were born to this union, of whom eight are still living. They are Charles Devore, of Phillips, and Harry, of St. Libory; Mrs. Lottie Lacey and Mrs. Maggie Manky, Grand Island; Mrs. Alice Lacey, St. Libory; Mrs. Elsie Lindenof and Miss Jessie Devore of this city, and Mrs. Etta Koch, of Palmer. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church at Phillips and interment will be made in St. Joseph cemetery. Rev. Rowen will conduct the service.
