From The Palmer Journal, February 15, 1962, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mrs. Peter Graae Dies February 8th - At Home in Palmer - Mrs. Margaret Manka Graae, 75, passed away at her home in Palmer Thursday evening last week. Mrs. Graae was born Oct. 15, 1886 at Phillips, to James and Martha Hanes DeVore. She and Charles H. Manka were married Feb. 10, 1904 at Grand Island. Mr. and Mrs. Manka made their home at Phillips for several years. Then, after residences in Grand Island and at Palmer, they returned to Phillips. Mr. Manka died there on April 23, 1944. Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Manka went to Palmer to make her home. She and Mr. Graae were married December 24, 1952 in Grand Island. They had made their only home at Palmer. She is survived by her husband; two children, James J. Manka of Mabton, Wash., and Mrs. Eathel Blase of Polk; two brothers, Charles DeVore of Phillips and Harry DeVore of Grand Island; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Linden, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Jessie VanNatta, North Platte and Mrs. Etta Koch of Dannebrog; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her first husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Thomas DeVore; and three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Lacy, Mrs. Allie Lacy and Hattie Devore.
