Bio
A number of deeds were signed between Sam and his second cousin Isham Samuel Cooksey in the vicinity of the Fairgrounds at Hazel in Newton County, Mississippi. He lived in both Newton and Scott County, Mississippi, and also lived in Louisiana. The 1910 Federal Census for Newton County, Mississippi, Beat 4, Part 2, page 154A, shows Samuel C. Parks, 27, MS, Suzie, 24, MS, May A, 9, William J., 7, Beattrice, 5, Cecil, 3, Arcus, 6/12, Margarett, mother, 57 (widowed, mother of eleven children, eight still living), MS. Sam died of a heart attack. His obituary gives the following survivors: sons Cecil Parks of East Biloxi, Mississippi and Argus Parks of Jackson, Mississippi; daughters Mrs. Beatrice Stewart and Mrs. Mary Clark, both of Forest, Mississippi; sisters Mrs. Birdie Jennings of Marthaville, Louisiana and Mrs. Nancy Smith of Nacodoches, Texas; and brothers Leroy Parks of Ellisville, Mississippi and Johnnie Parks of Moselle, Mississippi.
