Max served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943-1945. He married Grace Elizabeth Penney on 7 November 1945. They adopted two children, Karl Andrew (1960-1987) and a daughter. After their divorce, he married Lavina "Belle" Forester Hadley on 28 Dec 1970. Max was a Machinest by trade, working at Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Richland, Washington and then at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington, retiring in 1985 after 44 years. Max and Belle enjoyed traveling and were members of the Port Orchard Yacht Club. He was predeceased by his parents Theora Upchurch Killinger Alm and Charles Boyd Killinger, his adopted son Karl ("Andy") and a brother John Boyd Killinger. Also first wife Grace Elizabeth Penney Killinger Young. Survived by youngest brother Charles ("Buck") Killinger of Grapeview, Washington, wife Belle, two daughters and two sons, four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
