Bio
Louise Ann Marek Thompson, age 86, passed away at her home on December 17, 2011 with her family at her side. She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Lois Marek; her husband: Jimmie Thompson; her brother, Darwin Marek; her sister, Evelyn Lane and a great grandson Nathan Rodas. She was born in Granger, Texas. She graduated from Robstown High School in 1943. She was a loyal employee of Briner Paint Mfg. Co. for 38 years. She retired as an officer of the company in 1990. She was married to Jimmie of the CCPD for 42 years. She was a member of Most Precious Blood and most recently St. John the Baptist Catholic Churches. She loved her church and her God. She was a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother. She loved people and never met a stranger. She is survived by three daughters: Patty Thompson Cary (Bill), Carol Thompson Rogers (Ben), both of Corpus Christi, Gwen Thompson Guinn (Keith) of Alice; two granddaughters, Tiffany Guinn and Tyra Guinn Rodas (Paul), two great-granddaughters, Toree Rodas and Jadia Mendietta; three nieces and several cousins. A special thanks to her long time companion, Chester Lambert, her two caregivers Luz Cabrera and Hilda Flores, and the staff at Angel Bright Hospice. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. that same evening at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 7522 Everhart Road. Entombment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Mother Lois Mary Tomancak The name on her birth certificate is Eloise Annie Marek, but she was Louise on both the 1930 and 1940 censuses, her marriage license, the birth index for her children and everything else.
