On a hand written note by Jesse Minnie Zumwalt Tyree, daughter of Letsy Weems and William C. Zumwalt -- she writes the following: (wording and spelling as it was written) Letsy Zumwalt died March 2, 1904 on Wednesday eve. at 25 minutes till 9 o'clock and was buried at the Zumwalt graveyard at Slayden Mar. the 3 at half past 3 o'clock in the eve. Was borned the 6 day of June 1843. Age 61 years and 8 mounths. in family file [email protected] Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Mar. 3, 1904 Mrs. L. Zumwalt, relict of William Zumwalt, died yesterday evening at her home near Slayden. She was 63 years of age and her death was due to congestion and bowel trouble. Her remains will be interred in the cemetery at Slayden today. She was an old a worthy lady of that section . A son living in the territory was sent for but failed to arris before her death. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gonzales Inquirer Sep.13, 1906 Mr. Lane Zumwalt and family made a short visit to relatives here. Lane came back to his old home to have a monument erected over the graves of his parents, Mr.and Mrs William Zumwalt.
