Bio

James Harvey Cochneuer is the fourth child of Dougald M. and Mary Elizabeth Seago Cochnauer. The change in spelling of the surname is due to a transcription error when the Dawes Rolls were finalized. All members of Dougald and Mary Elizabeth Cochnauer's family were enrolled with the surname 'Cochneuer'. Although 'Cochnauer' is the ancestral spelling, some family members, especially males, took the Cochneuer spelling to prevent hassles with the Government.
