Bio

There seems to be some confusion on Find A Grave for the family of Anton Hoelscher, Sr. and his wife, Anna Maria Catharina Dahldrup Hoelscher. It stems from the fact that Anton, Sr. died while the family was living near Ellinger, Fayette County, Texas, actually Ross Prairie. Anton Hoelscher, Sr. was buried near there, but there are no records of his death and burial. There is a Historical Marker marking the Gravesite of Anton Hoelscher Sr. (GPS 29.851156, -96.678233) at Ross Prairie. His grave is on private land. There is also a gravestone there (Find A Grave Memorial ID 170030514) with the wrong death date of 1849. (buried near 29°52'17.0"N 96°41'38.8"W on private property). It is possible that Franz Hoelscher (born June 15, 1834 in Germany), son of Anton and Mary Catherine Hoelscher, is buried alongside his father. Little is known about Franz, except his birth, the fact that he traveled to Texas with his parents and brothers, and that he was confirmed at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Frelsburg, Colorado County, Texas on November 1, 1848. There are several spellings of her maiden name, but Daldorp is not one of them. Spellings include Daldrup, Dahldrup, Dahlerup, Daldrop, etc. Mary Catherine died January 30, 1880 and was buried at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Frelsburg, Colorado County, Texas. Her Find A grave Memorial ID is 92664521. The Find A Grave Memorial ID for her husband’s memorial at her grave is 92664520. Anton Hoelscher, Sr.’s death is put at 1856-1857. The reason this is important is because having 2 different Find A Grave Memorials for Anton Hoelscher, Sr. causes some of Anton and Mary Catherine’s children to be labeled as half-siblings on Find a Grave. I am not sure how this should be fixed, but it should be corrected. Here are the Find A Grave Memorials for these children along with the contributor or maintainer for Find A Grave.
