Bio

Funeral service for Geneva F. Coats will be held Friday morning, 10:00 a.m., Nov. 4, 2011, at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jason Rolen will officiate. Burial will follow at Emory City Cemetery. No formal visitation is scheduled. Mrs. Coats died near noon on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 28, 1926, in Emory, to Willie and Bessie Shedd Byram. She was 85 years of age. She married Steve Coats in Greenville on April 23, 1945. Mr. Coats preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Coats worked as a beautician most of her life and had many customers who became her dear friends. Survivors include: Daughter: Barbara Taylor & husband, Jim, of Emory Grandson: Jim Mack Taylor of Emory Great-Grandchildren: Stephen Taylor; Andrew Taylor and Kaley Taylor Sister: Esta Lee Pope of Alba Preceded in death by: Husband, 3 brothers: J.W. Byram; Pete Byram; and Truett Byram 4 sisters: Marie Byram Bryant; Alla Mae Byram Cooper; Betty Byram Shreves and Pearl Byram Willingham
