Bio

Services for Catherine Garland Cochran, 92, of Huntington, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006, in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Martin Doran officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery. Mrs. Cochran was born April 10, 1914, in Minden, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Bessie (Sexton) and G. C. Garland. She passed away Sunday, July 16, 2006, in a local hospital. Mrs. Cochran was a member of Huntington United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and was also retired from the Lufkin State School. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed making crafts. She loved her children and grandchildren, and their family gatherings were her most enjoyable moments. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Curtis Spivey of Huntington and Marijo and Linwood McGaughey of Tyler; daughter, Betty Jordan of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Martin G. and LouAnn Cochran of Huntington and B.F. (Muggins) Jr. and Sue Cochran of Jasper; son-in-law, Billy Joe Stovall of Lufkin; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by her husband, B.F. (Mule) Cochran, in 1961; daughter, Sandra Sue Stovall; granddaughter, Amy Cochran; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Pallbearers will be Keith Stovall, Greg Spivey, Lance Jordan, Cory Cochran, Randy McGaughey and Jason Cochran. Memorials may be made to the Huntington United Methodist Church, P.O.
