Bio
Funeral services for Gwendolyn A. Harper, 48, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, in Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church. The Revs. Jeff Phillips, Ken Gibson and L.E. Robertson will officiate. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home. Visitation is 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today in the funeral home, and from 8 a.m. Friday in the church. Mrs. Harper died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in a Lake Charles hospital. She was a lifelong resident of DeRidder. She was a former secretary for the Department of Transportation and Development engineer in DeRidder. She was a member of Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church, where she served as organist and a Sunday School teacher. She was the lead vocalist with Jerry Day and Sounds of Gospel. Survivors include her husband, Thomas J. Harper of DeRidder; one brother, Donnis W. Ashworth of DeRidder; and one sister, Marilyn A. Day of DeRidder.
