Gladys Marie Simpson, age 96, of New Castle passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Stonebrooke Convalescent Center after a brief illness. She was born March 14, 1915 in Nowata, OK the daughter of James and Maggie (Davis) Lee. She married Loren Simpson on January 22, 1933 and was a homemaker. She enjoyed auctions, gardening, canning and McDonalds. She is survived by five daughters: Anna Davis, Wilma Everman (companion, Ernie Smith), Thelma Chesher (husband, Bobby Joe), Janice Hammond (husband, Gerald) and Esther Mason (husband, Jim); fourteen grandchildren: Rita Littrell (husband, Jay), Mike Rains, Donnie Rains, Eddie Rains (wife, Janet), Connie Bennett (husband, Greg), Jimmy Stickler (wife, Betty), Anthony Davis (wife, Amiee), Jeff Chesher (wife, Diane), Brenda Boyd (husband, Doug), Randy Chesher (companion, Lee Ann), Danny Chesher (wife, Tracy), Rhonda Blackburn (companion, Ben Bunch), Jerry Lee Chesher and Teresa Winchester (husband, Steve); three step-grandchildren: Robin (husband, Scott) Chriswell, Chris (wife, Lana) Hammond and Junior Hammond; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Loren, of 77 years, great grandsons: Jason Chesher and Tim Hammond, and great-great grandson, Jayden Golliher. Services will be Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Marcum Community Funeral Home. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to service. Rev. Danny Neal will be officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery.
