Bio

David Pickelsimer, Sr., drove cattle from Haywood County, North Carolina in to South Carolina for sale, to help make a living. David Sr. and Nancy migrated to Union County, Georgia, with their children and settled in the Cooper's Creek area sometime before 1848. He was a farmer, blacksmith and reputedly a gunsmith. David, Sr was buried near the inlet of Coopers Creek to the Toccoa River near the Union-Fannin County line on the Fannin County side. Coopers Creek Baptist Cemetery sits in the northeast corner of the inlet. The church was established in 1848, so he could have been one of the first unmarked interments in that cemetery. He died between 1850 and 1860. The area, by 1856, became a part of Fannin County. Of the fourteen children born to this union, ten survived infancy. All but the youngest were born in North Carolina
