David Pickelsimer was born on 11 August 1834 in Buncombe County, North Carolina to David P Pickelsimer and Nancy Rogers Pickelsimer. Sometime later the Pickelsimer family moved to the Coopers Creeek area of Union County, Georgia.(Now Fannin County) He met and married Nancy A Barnes, the daughter of Ellijah Barnes and Martha Downes Barnes who had moved there about the same time. They reared 8 children and live there there rest of there days. When he died on 27 September 1914 he was buried at Upper Wilscot Cemetery in Fannin County, Georgia with his wife and several of the family.
