The Lord's servant, Miriam Jean Parkhill Waller, ascended to a better place on April 8, 2010 at the age of 80. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church Lubbock at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 with Dr. Keith Wiseman presiding. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. Jean was born in Lubbock, Texas to Gordon W. Parkhill and Miriam "Mim" Moore Cooper. She graduated Lubbock High School in 1947 and was employed by Reese Air Force Base. She married Pete H. Waller on July 21, 1949. She later became a homemaker to raise her four sons and was for years a very faithful supporter of youth baseball, football, soccer, scouts, music and band events for her boys and also Texas Tech football. She was active in school PTA and was a First United Methodist Church Sunday school teacher for three-year-olds for over 20 years. She was a volunteer and past President of the Methodist Hospital Auxiliary and logged over 25,000 hours of volunteer service with the hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, on April 8, 1994, and sister, Ruth P. Smith. She is survived by sons, David D. Waller (Rose) of Brodheadsville, Pa., Bill E. Waller (Colleen) of Lubbock, Greg P. Waller of New Braunfels, Texas and Stephen R. Waller (Kathy) of Bossier City, La.; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Johnathan, Jessica, Megan, Melanie, Geoff, Kelsey, Thomas and Tobin; a brother, Gordon W. "Buzz" Parkhill, Jr. (Ellen); brother-in-law, Billy D. Smith; mother-in-law, Joyce M. Waller; and nieces and nephews.
