"The LaFayette Sun" - June 3, 1959: Mrs. W. V. McClendon Passes On Monday. Mrs. W. V. McClendon, age 84, a lifelong resident of Chambers County, passed away Monday afternoon, June 1 at her home near here. She had been ill for the past two months. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from Johnson & Sanders Chapel with Rev. Frank B. Reaves officiating. Interment was in Rock Springs Cemetery with Johnson & Sanders in charge. Mrs. McClendon was a daughter of the late Probate Judge Peter Rowland and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Newell, Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sons, W. V. McClendon, Jr., and Gaines McClendon, both, of LaFayette; two brothers, Gip Rowland, Birmingham and Sid Rowland, San Gabriel California.
