Bio
James Orton (Jim) was born in Higbee, MO and had 12 siblings between the years 1917 and 1941. 2 brothers Harry and Henry died in 1927. His mother died when he was 16. His first marriage was in 1952. When he was 26, his brother Toby died in Rifle, Colorado. In 1957, his brother Jerry died in an auto accident in Glascow, MO when Jerry was only 16. In June of 1963, he married and had 11 children. His daughter Jennifer passed away after 1 day in 1975. His brother George died when James was 46 and his father died at the age of 81 in 1978, when James was 48. He was a master of all trades knowing how to do electric, plumbing, woodworking, auto mechanic work, etc He was known for his strength and character. James was 63 years old when he died at his Higbee home (from Malignant Neoplasm) on his front steps (1220 County Road 127) in his son James Robert Orton's arms on 23 Feb 1993 and is buried in the Higbee Cemetary.
