Kenneth James Dick, age 80, of Henderson, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 13, 1931 in Henderson to Abe and Kathryn (Goossen) Dick. Kenneth was a lifelong well driller and farmer in the Henderson area. He was united in marriage to Wilma Friesen on January 23, 1953 in Henderson Nebraska. He worked 47 years for a well drilling company and was responsible for many of the wells in York and surrounding counties. His passion was well drilling and his hobby was farming in the Bradshaw area. He enjoyed time spent with his family and attending many of his grandchildren's activities. The Lord blessed them with 58 years of marriage and to their union four children. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Wilma; children and spouses Kerry and Barb Dick, Henderson, Darla and Loren Cleveland, Grand Island, Mark and Karen Dick, Henderson and Jamie Dick, Las Vegas, Nev.; nine granddaughters, Tennille Dick, Kayla and Joel Gilmore, all of Henderson, Nev., Lindsay Thompson, Young America, Minn., Jessica Cleveland, Hesston, Kan., Jennifer Cleveland, Wichita, Kan., Mackenzie and Mikaelyn Dick, Henderson, Natalia and Elsa Dick York. Four great-grandchildren, Keshawn, Kyra, Malachi and Asher. Sister and brother-in-law Mable and Raymond Siebert, sister Blanche Franz and sisters-in law Edna Goertzen, Erma Goertzen and Viola Friesen. Many nephews, nieces and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents. * Burial will be at 2:15 pm, Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Bethesda Cemetery, Henderson. Memorial services will follow at 3 p.m. at the Bethesda Mennonite church. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Metz Mortuary in Henderson. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. that evening. Memorials may be directed to the Bethesda Cemetery Directory or Henderson Health Care Services.
