Bio

Norman Vernon Elliott, 69, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at his home in Huntsville, MO. Norman was born February 5, 1942, the ninth of 10 children, to John and Flossie Mae (Prather) Elliott. He worked for 10 years at General Motors in Arlington, TX, and later retired after 20 years with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He was active in and a lifetime member of UTU Local 818 in Santa Fe, TX. Thirteen years ago Norman moved "home" to Missouri with his wife, Lynett. The family of Sweet Springs Baptist Church enriched their lives. Norman enjoyed writing poetry, visiting with family and working on outside projects with Lynett where he felt blessed to be among all of God's creations. Deer season was always special with Norman Jr., Tony, Rick and his brothers-in-law. He was often heard laughing when he was in conversation with his daughters. And he and Eric shared a passion for weight lifting. Norman firmly belived that "God's work is done by those who pray." Norman is survived by his wife, Lynett; one brother, Terry Elliott (Lana) of Royce, TX. He was blessed with two daughters, Denise of Dallas, TX and Casey of Bernard, MO; and three sons, Eric of Conception, MO, Timmy (deceased) and Norman Jr. (Debra) of Fort Worth, TX. He was also blessed with six grandchildren, Justin, Marissa, Johnny, William, Dolores and Vincent. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Juanita Elliott of Rogers, AR and Violet Eliott of Huntsville, MO; family friend, Bea Durham; mother-in-law, Sandy Carlson (Ronnie) of Cairo, MO. Norman enjoyed his special connection with "Grandma" Helen Daniels also from Cairo. He leaves many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Timmy; sisters, Mildred, Maxine, Dorothy, Helen, Charlene and Ruth; and his brothers, John and Ronald. Services will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at CATER Funeral Home Chapel with visitation Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at CATER Funeral Home. Burial will be in Huntsville City Cemetery.
