Married Virginia 31 Dec 1941. Jay Pershing Bradt, age 86 , died on Monday, November 8, 2004 at Kimball Health Services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Roger Gillming will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 A. M. to 8:00 P. M. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church of Kimball. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Jay was born on September 14, 1918 in Weld County, Colo. He graduated from Kimball County High School in 1937. On New Years Eve 1941, he and Virginia Vawter were united in marriage in Greeley, Colo. Jay served his country during World War II in the army. Upon his discharge, he returned to the Kimball area where he farmed and ran Olsen Elevator. In 1960, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque, N.M. where he spent a number of years employed at Bay Filling Station. He also worked on construction projects in the area. His health forced his retirement in 1976. In 1985 they returned to Kimball. Mr. Bradt was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Kimball Lions Club, the V. F. W. and a former president of the Lost Chord Society. He is survived by his sons: Bennie C. Bradt of Kimball, David Jay and wife Andrea Bradt of Houston, Texas; a daughter Judith and husband George Snyder of Lexington, N.C.; a brother Lee Bradt of McCook, Neb.; three sisters: Grace Gadeken of Kimball, Betty Bradt of Wichita, Kan., and Joy Linzy of Capistrano Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia in October of 1991, his parents, brothers George, Gerald and Elford Bradt, and sisters Rosemary Furrow and Nellie Wheeler.
