Bio

Margaret "Marge" Beran, 57, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln. Marge was born Dec. 26, 1953, at Grand Island to Joseph and Lucille (Fortin) Beran. Survivors are: brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Barb Beran of Hamburg, Iowa, and Doug and Cindy Beran of Grand Island; sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Randy Kendall of Grand Island; nephews who Marge helped raise following their mother's passing, Ryan Beran and his son, Ayden and Tory Beran; nephews and nieces are Joe Beran, Jr. and his wife, Kim, Jeff Beran, Kerri Beran, Dan Beran and his wife, Karla, Vanessa Bardales, Hannah Beran, Molly Kendall and a host of relatives and friends. Marge was welcomed into heaven by her parents and sister, Karla Beran. Marge graduated from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1972. She received her nursing degree from Platte College in Columbus. She made Grand Island her home working at both the Lutheran Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center in Obstetrics and later with Oncology. She was a very caring person who found her calling making people feel better. She retired due to ill health. She was an excellent cook, having enjoyed cooking for her family like her mother before her. She left a lasting legacy to all her patients, friends and her family. Her memory will be treasured by many. Burial was in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on September 1, 2011
