Bio

Decatur Herald 10/27/1953 Charles Robert Ward, 73 of Decatur died yesterday in St. Mays hospital following an illness of three months. He was born near Bethany Sept, 13, 1880 a son of Abner and Dolly Ward and had lived in Decatur 31 years. He was a painting contractor and a member of Modern Woodmen of America. He was first married to Lela A. Crowder who died Dec. 14, 1924. He was married Aug. 22, 1941 to Mrs. Ona Boils Leach. He leaves his wife, four children, Miss Lena Ward, Champaign, Mrs. Ruth Personette, Decatur, Mrs. Dorcas Smith, Cerro Godo and Mrs. June Baker,Carlinville and seven step children. There are nine grandchildren, 22 step grandchildren and a brother, John H.Bethany. Two sons preceded him in death. Services will be Wednesday in the Cumberland Presbyterian church in Bethany with burial in the Marrowbone cemetery in Bethany. Obituary furnished by Janet Donner Contributor: janet donner
