Thank you! ==================================== Juanita Zapata Schellenberg, 76, went to be with our Lord and Savior April 6, 2003. She was born February 13, 1927 in Ferris, Texas, the beloved daughter of Braulio and Nellie Zapata. She leaves a beloved husband Roy H. Schellenberg of 53 years and a beloved son and daughter, John Mark Schellenberg and Gina Maria Orta. Also son-in-law, Armando Orta; two beloved grandchildren, Jonathon David and Brianna Raquel Orta; Beloved sisters, Lillie Martinez and Virgie Martinez and their husbands Rudy and Richard Martinez; Her beloved brother Daniel Zapata and his wife Helen Zapata. Also brother-in-law, Robert "Pipeline" Schellenberg and many nieces and nephews. Juanita graduated from the Presbyterian Pan American School, P.O. Box 1578, Kingsville Tx 78364-1578, Telephone 361-592-4307. This is her preferred memorial gift (scholarship fund). She earned credits from the community college and SMU. She was an excellent accountant, speaker and entrepreneur. She was a rare lady-contractor in which she constructed and operated the Schelly Restaurant in addition to rearing a loving family. Above all she was devoted to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Presbyterian Church. Funeral services, 10 am Wednesday, April 9, 2003 in Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Chapel. Rev. Robert Shelton and Rev. James Schellenberg will officiate. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. ** Historic note: Her older brother, Braulio Tamez "B.T." Zapata, Jr., was one of the first - if not the first - Hispanic policemen on the Dallas Police force and worked in the Homicide & Robbery unit and C.I.S. On 11/22/63, he and others from his unit were stationed at the Dallas Trademart on protective duty, awaiting the arrival of President Kennedy to give his Dallas luncheon speech. Sadly, President Kennedy was assassinated in Dealey Plaza just a few minutes prior to his scheduled arrival at the Trademart.
