Elvie was a crippled lady and was very well loved by everyone. Her grandson, Bertrand Duck, said when she was a little girl, that she broke her legs while playing with the other children (her siblings and cousins). Before her parents could get her legs set, it was to late. Another person daid that Elvie's foot got steped on when she was a baby, causing her handicap. Emma (Duck) Trawick said, her mother Elvie partically raised her younger siblings because Elvie's father (Thomas Quinley) was down, and because of this her mother (Catherine Johnson Quinley) would have to plow the fields, and do most of the farm work. One day Catherine was going over to the neighbor's house to visit them and was going to take her youngest son Andrew with her. Elvie told her mother that she shouldn't, because she would forget about little Andrew and leave him. Catherine took Andrew with her anyway, and the adults engaged in conversation. She soon forgot about little Andrew. Catherine finally remembered him and they all ganged up to search for him. They soon found him, and he was perfectly fine.
