Carroll Verlene Atkinson Turner, age 86, died Monday, August 15, 2011 in Childress. Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing and Rev.Chad King officiating . Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Verlene was born to Buck and Evelene Atkinson on February 6, 1925 in Garden Valley, Texas. She and husband Jimmy Turner married June 6, 1942 in Childress. They were married for 66 years before his death. February 2, 2009. At one time, she served as church secretary at First Baptist where she was a longtime member. For several years she was employed at a local bank as a teller and also worked at Farmers Service Agency. Verlene is preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Evelene, infant daughter, Jimmie Christine, and one brother, Billy Joe Atkinson. Survivors: Three daughters, Ricki Greer and husband, Dan, Childress, Mary Risinger and husband, Vance, Colorado Springs, CO, and Jill Wakefield and husband, James, Memphis, TX Six grandchildren include, Jimmy Greer, Perryton, Joe Greer and wife, Landie, Wichita Falls, Anthony Wakefield and wife, Vanessa, Yukon, OK, Travis Risinger and wife, Becca, Colorado Springs, CO, Amanda Marker and husband, Rock, Pampa, and Abby Wakefield, Amarillo; Twelve great grandchildren include: Skyler Greer, Childress, Seth Greer, Clarendon, Maison and Grayson Greer, both of Wichita Falls, James Wakefield, Yukon, OK, Kassidy Greer, Childress, Rebecca Marker, Naomi Marker, Sarah Jo Marker, all of Pampa, Faith Risinger, Colorado Springs, CO and Maddi Lou Wakefield, Yukon, OK Sister - Peggy Cook and husband, Dwight, Amarillo, Brother - Gary Atkinson, Childress, Numerous nieces And Nephews
