Willie Hazel officiating. Burial will be in Tidwell Cemetery. Mrs. Singleton died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday in a Fort Worth hospital. She was born on May 22, 1916 in Clarksville to William Thomas and Katherine Dewoody Hughes. She married Pierce Singleton on Jan. 15, 1940 in Bonham. Mrs. Singleton was a member of Kings Hiway Baptist Church of Fort Worth. Survivors include a son, James P. Singleton of Fort Worth; a step-son, Bobby Ray Singleton; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ruby Nell Newell of Garland; five brothers, Cliff and Henry Hughes both of Oklahoma, Jack Hughes of Fort Worth, John Hughes of Bonham and Leonard Hughes of Sherman; four half-brothers, Doyle Hughes of Fort Worth area, Jessie, Charles and Bobby Hughes all of Sherman. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Leona Chitwood of Fort Worth; two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Ellen Underwood of Bonham and Mrs. Elizabeth Hall of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren, Bety (sic), Cheryl, Linda and James P. Singleton Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969 and a brother and a sister. Nephews will serves as pallbearers.
